Free Lesson Plan

This month we are happy to bring you a free lesson plan for working with a delightful fishing song from Taiwan. This lesson is from Purposeful Pathways, Book 3 by BethAnn Hepburn and Roger Sams. It includes Kodaly-based literacy work, an Orff arrangement, body percussion with an opportunity for students to create hand clapping patterns, composing using rhythmic building blocks, and dance making. There is enough joyful learning to keep your mid to upper elementary students eagerly engaged for several class periods. As with all lessons in the Purposeful Pathways model, you pick and choose the pathways that you’d like to work with. You don’t have to use all of the pathways to co-create beautiful music and dance with your students. Choose the ones that work best for you. Enjoy!
